How to Update Google Chrome Portable Version

In my pc i have two versions of google chrome installed, a normal version and the portable version. Most often i use the portable version of google chrome since its is easy to carry on my USB drive and i can use it any pc.

But the only problem with the portable Google Chrome is that it does’t have the ability to update by itself. It gives the “update server not available error(1)” when i try to check for updates by taking the “About Google Chrome” Option. The new updates are very important to get new features and fixes. So here’s how i updated my version of Google Chrome Portable.

1) First download the Google Chrome Setup file. Usually when you download the setup file from google chrome’s website, the installation automatically begins, so we can’t get the set up file back. So download the latest google chrome version from  softpedia. Just google “Google Chrome + Softpedia” or visit this page to directly get the individual setup file of latest google chrome build.

2) Now Right Click the Chrome Setup File and Choose Extract using any file compression tool like winrar or 7-zip.

3) Navigate to the Portable Chrome Folder, “GoogleChromePortableDevAppChrome-bin”. That was the folder in my case, but it might vary some times, so all you need to do is to find the “chrome-bin “ folder inside the portable chrome directory.
4) Paste and replace the files in this directory existing once windows asks.
5) Now just open your portable Google Chrome Browser and check the version and it will be updated!
If you have any problem updating portable google chrome version just comment on, i will help you.

5 things to anticipate with Google

With the launch of Google+(Google Plus) into a social gaming platform, it marks Google+’ first attempt at expansion and solidifying its claim on the social network market. However, it’s still something that Facebook would not validate with a mere quiver at the moment. But it’s a good step into an expected direction.

Never has there been quite a notable contender for alternative social gaming experience since Facebook’s rule. It will be interesting to see how Google+ will come to its being as it continues to grow as a legitimate social network of sorts.

Will the games farm enough to make the bill?

Facebook came to even stellar prominence with the addition of its game apps. Most notable of late is Zynga’s Farmville. The game alone boasts of nearly 80 million users from Facebook’s Goliath total of 700 million.

The game came to public consciousness through massive game notifications displayed onto Facebook’s News Feed. There, people can share everything to everyone and, in some ingenious way, inadvertently enchant some of those to hither to apps friends had already tangled with. As if enticing other users with their friends’ dalliances with intriguing apps wasn’t enough, developers thought ahead to create a way for members to send out a massive amount of invites to friends with just a few clicks.

In contrast, Google+ has a more miniscule approach when it comes to self-endorsement (which can be directly proportional to app publicity as well). In Google+, most of a user’s posts are confined to a certain number of people. Users are allowed to choose which circles they want any developments be known to. This, whether in hindsight or foresight, is already a disadvantage in its own; game apps are being micro-marketed as opposed to Facebook’s in-every-user’s-friend’s-face approach.

A good thing to mention though is that Google+ is steadily gaining users. Based on a recent survey, all though a few drops in online frequenters have appeared in a few segments of its target market, a steady stream of mainstream users are starting to adapt to the platform.

It is conclusive that game apps and network size are good indicators of the developers and the network’s success. The more users a certain network has, the more expected users the game apps can sell to; and the more interested people become in a game app that a particular platform offers, the more prospects the network can service. In a way, it’s a very “commensalistic” concept to stay ahead.

Developer rates…Will they be consistent?

What whets developer appetites when it comes to Google+ is its small transaction fees for in-app purchases. Currently, Google offers a tiny across-the-board 5% rate when compared to Facebook’s 30%. Developers will definitely be on the lookout for any changes to the offer as developments ensue.

Will Google raise it up as it starts to collect even more users or will Facebook be compelled to reduce its asking fee?

Will other developers jump in?
Google+ launched 16 game titles onto its platform from ten different developers. Out of that number, two are Google’s own through investments in game developers Zynga and Kablam. What should be interesting to see is will other developers bid their titles to the platform soon?
Some, if not all, will want to keep their feets dry first and see if the network will prove to be a good collector of prospect users for the games. Crowdstar, a game company, was quick enough to quip that they’ll wait it out. They already have applications designed for Facebook and iOS.
For other companies to get on the Google+ bandwagon, they’d want to see first what capacity the platform has in assembling a potential market for their titles. They think it is wise to let the platform to successfully work before they can think of allocating resources to it.
Will users checkout Google Checkout?
Despite the investment Google has tendered to their own payments service, Google Checkout never really caught a following during its rounds. If Google Checkout proves to be a hassle to users, this would make a huge obstacle for any growth on revenues for developers, and in turn, for Google. If it clicks, it’s another plus on Google+ merits.
Google Checkout only accepts credit cards and debit cards for now. Paypal and other payment services are out of the scene.
Android and Mobile Implementation
The industry was caught off-guard by Google’s recent acquisition of Motorola Mobility. This development could provide a slew of great possibilities for Google+.
With no other mode of purchasing for Google+ users but credit or debit card charges, Google could make things better for their users through mobile payments.
With mobile gaming still out of Facebook’s stronghold, Google can make this work.

Google trumps ACCC in search case

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has lost a court case against Google over claims advertising on the internet search giant's main website could be confused with search results.
The case centred around sponsored links by online trading company Trading Post. One such case involved the Newcastle car dealer Kloster Ford. According to the judgement, a search of "Kloster Ford" back in 2005 gave "sponsored link" results that would direct customers to the Trading Post website.
The competition watchdog alleged that because the headline of the link often referred to just the business name alone — for example, Kloster Ford — and then redirected to the Trading Post website, which had no affiliation with the real Kloster Ford, Google and Trading Post were engaged in deceptive conduct.
The ACCC also alleged that Google was misleading consumers by not making it clear that "sponsored links" were advertisements.
In the Federal Court in Sydney today, however, Justice John Nicholas found that while the Trading Post had been misleading in its conduct regarding the advertisements, Google was not engaged in deceptive conduct as it had merely been the messenger between the advertiser and the consumer.
"Google merely communicated what Trading Post represented without adopting or endorsing any of it," Nicholas said.
Nicholas ordered Trading Post to pay $28,000 towards the ACCC's legal costs, while the ACCC has been ordered to pay Google's total legal costs.
ACCC chair Rod Sims said the case served as an important clarification about advertising on the internet.
"All businesses involved in placing advertisements on search engines must take care not to mislead or deceive consumers," he said in a statement.
Google welcomed the judge's decision.
"We are pleased with the Federal Court's ruling and that the matter has been resolved. Our guiding principle has always been that advertising should benefit both advertisers and users, and our aim is to ensure that ads are relevant and useful," it said in a statement.
Since the case began in 2007, Google has changed the name of "sponsored links.

Google to launch YouTube Politics

Google-owned YouTube is launching a special site Thursday that it hopes will be a one-stop online spot for political junkies to watch the good, the bad and the ugly of the 2012 presidential campaign.
The site, YouTube Politics, will include videos from the candidates’ official YouTube channels and a mix of videos produced by media outlets and everyday citizens so people can follow every speech, gaffe and interview of the 2012 campaign.

It will also feature charts that showa tally of which candidates are receiving the most video views, search queries within YouTube, subscribers and video shares. YouTube visitors can also keep track of which candidate videos are getting the most views each day, week or month on the site.
“We wanted to paint a really holistic view for what politics looks like on YouTube,” Ramya Raghavan, YouTube news and politics manager, told POLITICO. “We’re seeing that citizens have an enormous appetite for getting political information online.”
The launch of the site is the latest of several moves by Google to position itself as a go-to source for politics news. In September, Google paired up with Fox News to host the GOP presidential debate. YouTube live-streamed the event and people could submit questions to the candidates and view search trend information via the site during the debate.
Though video is an inherently risky platform — remember George Allen’s campaign-crushing “Macaca” moment in 2006 — candidates and officials increasingly are embracing YouTube to help frame their message.
President Barack Obama has conducted interviews on YouTube, and Congress members and candidates opened their own YouTube channels.
YouTube also launched a Town Hall online platform earlier this year featuring members of Congress squaring off on various hot button domestic issues, including the economy and health care.
