Google Earth for Android has been available for a year now. Now, a new version of Google Earth was created specifically for tablets with Android.
Announced on Thursday, the update adds Google Earth textured 3D buildings, Street View tours, an action bar for easy navigation and the ability to fly to a place, similar to how does Google desktop application Earth.
Here's how the official Google Blog says the company adapted the smartphone version of Google Earth for tablets: “Moving from a mobile phone to a tablet was like going from a regular movie theatre to IMAX. We took advantage of the larger screen size, including features like content pop-ups appearing within Earth view, so you can see more information without switching back and forth between pages.”
As illustrated in the chart above, the tablet version of Google Earth has a smart way to fly around 3D models while allowing users to browse the photos that were taken there. It is available for free download now, either by m.google.com / land in a mobile browser or the Android Market.
